Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 cup carrots, shredded

1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped

¼ cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 head of butter lettuce, leaves separated

¼ cup chopped green onions (for garnish)

¼ cup chopped cilantro (for garnish)

Crushed peanuts (optional, for topping)

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Sauté the Vegetables: Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes until it starts to soften. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add Remaining Vegetables: Stir in the diced red bell pepper, shredded carrots, and chopped mushrooms. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.

Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Pour this sauce over the beef mixture in the skillet and stir well to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.

Assemble the Wraps: Take a lettuce leaf and scoop some of the beef mixture into the center. Top with chopped green onions, cilantro, and crushed peanuts if desired.

Serve: Enjoy these delicious wraps immediately, either as a main dish or as an appetizer.
