Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine or linguine

1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic (minced)

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Zest of 1 lemon

Lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)

Instructions

Cook the pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the fettuccine or linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Sauté the shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Prepare the sauce: In the same skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.

Create the creamy base: Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.

Combine everything: Add the cooked pasta and shrimp back into the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta and shrimp in the creamy garlic sauce. Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes, lemon zest, and a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately. Enjoy your creamy garlic shrimp pasta!
