Ingredients

20 large pasta shells

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, plus more for topping

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cups marinara sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta shells and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.

Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, the egg, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Stuff the Shells: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the shells have cooled enough to handle, take a spoonful of the cheese mixture and stuff each shell generously.

Assemble the Dish: Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange the filled shells on top of the sauce in a single layer. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells, ensuring they are well coated. Sprinkle with additional mozzarella cheese on top.

Bake the Shells: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Let the shells cool for a few minutes before serving. If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves.
