Ingredients

8 oz linguine or spaghetti

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

5 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Zest of 1 lemon (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the linguine or spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce: In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Creamy Addition: Pour in the heavy cream and stir well to combine. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.

Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the pot and toss to coat it in the garlic Parmesan sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water until reaching your desired consistency.

Season: Season generously with salt, black pepper, and optional lemon zest to enhance the flavors. Mix well.

Garnish and Serve: Plate the pasta, and garnish with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan if desired. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Garlic Parmesan Pasta!
