Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 for flavor)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1 cup broccoli florets

2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, around 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.

Sauté Aromatics: Add minced garlic and chopped onion to the beef. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.

Create the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, brown sugar, gochujang, rice vinegar, and ground ginger until well combined. Pour this sauce over the beef mixture. Stir well to ensure the beef is fully coated in the sauce.

Add Veggies: Toss in the broccoli florets, stirring to combine with the beef mixture. Cover the skillet and let it cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender.

Assemble the Bowls: In serving bowls, place a layer of cooked rice. Top generously with the beef and broccoli mixture.

Garnish and Serve: Finish with a sprinkle of sliced green onions and sesame seeds on top. Serve hot and enjoy!
