White Cheddar & Spinach Chicken Burgers

Ingredients
  

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1/2 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 clove garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

Burger buns

Lettuce, tomato, and any desired condiments for serving

Instructions
 

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped spinach, white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

    Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty, approximately 3/4 inch thick.

      Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken patties to the skillet.

        Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on one side until golden brown. Flip them carefully and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes on the other side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

          During the last minute of cooking, if desired, place a slice of additional white cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.

            Remove the cooked patties from the skillet and assemble your burgers by placing the patties on burger buns, topping with lettuce, tomato, and any additional condiments of your choice.
